About the Project
A working barbershop, built from the studs to the last station.
Barberhood Chambers is a commercial fit-out in South Florida where Nakamura Contractors turned a bare commercial shell into a working barbershop. Six cutting stations sit on wood-look laminate flooring, separated by clean drywall partitions and lit by commercial LED panels overhead. A lounge with leather-and-chrome seating, a wall-mounted TV, and a coffee bar gives the clientele somewhere to wait that feels intentional.
We approached the project the way we approach any commercial build: protect the schedule, deliver the layout the operator can actually run, and finish to a standard that holds up to daily use. Every station mirror, every mat, every coat hook was located so the team behind the chairs has the flow they need from open to close.
This is the kind of commercial work the Nakamura team turns around often. Tenant improvements, retail and hospitality fit-outs, full barbershop and salon build-outs across South Florida. The brief stays the same: from empty shell to opening day.

How we built it
Three movements, one continuous build.

Plan & Permit
Site walk, measurements, conversations with the operator about how the floor needs to flow on a busy Saturday. Drawings, layout sign-off, and permits before anything is cut.

Build the Shell
Demolition, framing, mechanicals, drywall. Plumbing rough-in for the stations, electrical for the LED ceiling panels, HVAC tuned for a room that runs all day. The structural work nobody sees but everything else sits on.

Finish & Open
Flooring, paint, fixture install, station setup, signage, punch-list. Sequenced by the same in-house team that started the build, with one supervisor end-to-end. We hand over the keys only when the shop can open tomorrow.
