About the Project
A Florida cottage, rebuilt from the studs and dressed for the coast.
Beachside Retreat is a coastal-cottage rebuild in South Florida where Nakamura Contractors took an aging single-family home down to the framing and rebuilt it for a young family. Board-and-batten siding in a soft mint runs the exterior, white Bahama shutters tilt out over every window for shade and storm season, and a bright orange door anchors the entry. The result reads unmistakably Florida coastal.
Inside, the brief was light and easy to live in. Sky-blue walls carry the upstairs bedrooms, dark wood-look laminate flooring grounds the rooms, and a tropical tile inlay gives the floors a hand-laid feel without the upkeep. Every window opens to the neighborhood of palms and pitched metal roofs, the kind of view a Florida beach home is meant to have.
Like every Nakamura build, the same in-house team carried the project from the framing through the finish paint. Old structure repaired, new exterior detailed for the climate, interior finished room by room. Honest, family-scaled work, from the studs to the front step.

Survey & Plan
Walk the existing structure, document what stays and what comes out, conversations with the family about how the home needs to live. Drawings and permits before the first board is removed.

Strip & Reframe
Down to the studs where it needs to be. Reframing, hurricane bracing, new mechanicals, fresh exterior sheathing. The slow, structural work that nobody sees but everything else sits on.

Skin & Finish
Board-and-batten siding, Bahama shutters, painted exterior, interior drywall and floors, fixture install and punch-list. Sequenced by the same in-house team end-to-end. Keys hand over when the home is ready to be lived in.
